Vehicle Barrier Bars

The Product

The VBB has a rapid rate of deployment between three and five seconds. This can be decreased to about one second with the addition of the optional Emergency Fast Operation (EFO) control. The VBB utilizes a hydraulically actuated, reinforced horizontal bar that is stowed below the road surface to permit vehicles to pass over it. Hydraulic Actuators are located et either end of the Bar.

To secure the perimeter, the Reinforced Bar is raised from the cavity to the deployed position approximately 30m (76cm) above the road surface. When the Bar is deployed, resistance to vehicle intrusion is provided by the Reinforced Bar. The continuous tensile members are secured to the Drive Ends at each end of the Bar. The Drive Ends are anchored to the footing via embedded anchor bolts.

The Hydraulic Supply can be installed separate from the barrier, in which case, the hydraulic lines run from the hydraulic supply can operate from a variety of electrical power sources and is provided with all required fusing and protection. In the event of a power failure, the bar can be deployed manually with the Emergency Over-Ride Hand Pump. The VBB Is US 008 Certified. having stopped a 15.000 lbs [6.820kg) vehicle travelling at 50mph (80km/h)
